On June 23-24, the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas hosted Mall Madness for the fifth year in a row! The girls had the opportunity to participate in STEM-based activities, shop, eat, scavenger hunt, watch movies, and spend the night at Golden Triangle Mall in Denton, TX. This event was a fun way to celebrate the girls for being leaders who renewed their participation for another year of the Girl Scouts leadership experience during the Girl Scouts’ Early Bird initiative.

STEM Activities

In celebration of the 23 new STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) badges offered by Girl Scouts, there were plenty of hands-on activities at Mall Madness to introduce the girls to STEM concepts in a fun way. Girls got the opportunity to build robot prototypes, play robot soccer, go through drone obstacles, snap circuits, design race cars and more.

Other Festivities

In addition to the STEM activities, the girls had access to exclusive late-night North Texas shopping, star-gazing through telescopes, middle-of-the-night dance parties, an Instagram scavenger hunt, and a late-night showing of Wall-E at the Silver Cinema Theater. Plenty of other vendors attended as well, offering more STEM-related fun and exciting activities. The Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Roughnecks, Explore Horizons, iCode, UNT Kappa Delta, Rough Riders, and the Perot Museum all showed their support of the Girl Scouts and helped support troops planning their Girl Scout events for the upcoming school year.

The Girl Scouts’ Mall Madness is becoming a Golden Triangle tradition. Golden Triangle Mall is much more than one of the many things to do in Denton; Golden Triangle is a part of the Denton community, which tries to give back as much as possible. We love Denton just as much as you do!

This is how we Denton.
